DAVAO CITY ,Philippines – The Bureau of Immigration (BI) wants to deport a suspected Malaysian terrorist who was recently arrested in a joint raid by Navy intelligence and immigration agents in Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur.

The suspect, Abdul Aziz Usman, also known as Aziz Bin Othman, was nabbed last May 28 while getting married to a Filipina in a mosque in Barangay Inawayan, Sta. Cruz town.

Usman reportedly failed to show travel documents to justify his entry in the country.

Usman is suspected to be a finance officer of the al-Qaeda-linked Jemaah Islamiyah, a regional terrorist group.

Authorities said Usman could have entered the country through the southern backdoor without passing through legal immigration stations.

Usman is also suspected to be involved in the trafficking of Filipino women to Malaysia who are usually recruited to work as domestic helpers but end up being prostitutes.
